The Department of Anesthesiology cares for patients of all ages and risk groups, before, during and after operations. The clinic focuses on differentiated anesthesia techniques as general anesthesia, regional anesthesia close to the spinal cord and a high proportion of ultrasound-guided regional anesthesia as peripheral blockages of the upper or lower extremities. The range of services also includes single-lung ventilation for transthoracic spinal procedures, the entire spectrum of aortic and carotid surgery as well as mechanical autotransfusion. An interdisciplinary intensive care unit/IMC with ten beds (including hemofiltration, video bronchoscopy, PiCCO) is managed by the anesthesia. The department has 4 years of further training authorization for anesthesia and 2 years for special intensive care.
